The problem is, it's a perpetual growth machine. It can't stop when it's made enough. It's overdeveloped, I guess. It's overproducing, overdeveloping, overconsuming, strip mining the planet of resources and the ocean of fish and so on and so forth, and all of that is to produce these days, for sure, a lot of stuff we don't really need.

Why It's Eco-Socialism or Collapse. Climate change is better understood as climate systems breakdown, and it's only through the lens of the latter that we can grasp the scale of the crisis ahead. The determinant element in the concept of eco-socialism is the prefix eco. And that means the rejection of industrialism. A good socialist only needs to rejects capitalism. But to be an eco-socialist one must also reject industrialism as a future perspective for mankind, and agree to a program of de-industrialization (now often clumsily called ...

Hans Baer, in his book Democratic eco-socialism as a real utopia, describes ecosocialism as a global system that is "highly democratic rather than authoritarian, that ensures that all people have access to basic resources, and that is at the same time environmentally sustainable and recognises that we live on a fragile planet with limited ...

It is this critical feature of socialism that makes sustainability possible. The energy needs of an ecosocialist society would be far less than what capitalism demands. Ideology merging aspects of socialism with green politics, ecology and alter-globalization

Eco-socialism is an ideology merging aspects of socialism with that of green politics, ecology and alter-globalization or anti-globalization. Eco-socialists generally believe that the expansion of the capitalist system is the cause of social exclusion, poverty, war and environmental degradation through globalization and imperialism, under the supervision of repressive states and transnational structures. Eco-socialism asserts that the capitalist economic system is fundamentally incompatible with the ecological and social requirements of sustainability. Thus, according to this analysis, giving economic priority to the fulfillment of human needs while staying within ecological limits, as sustainable development demands, is in conflict with the structural workings of capitalism. By this logic, market-based solutions to ecological crises are rejected as technical tweaks that do not confront capitalism's structural failures. Wikipedia
